Please join us on January 21st, Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and learn more about Allyship’s statewide
Legislative Agenda around housing and economic equity policies in Olympia. This event is sponsored by the Pride Foundation, Seattle Children’s Hospital, SEIU 775 and UFCW 21.
LGBTQ seniors, youth, low-income, transgender, women and people of color are disproportionately impacted by a lack of affordable and low-income housing in Seattle and throughout the state. In Allyship’s 2015 LGBTQ Safety Survey, we learned that 73% of Seattle survey participants were renters, 68% of participants lived paycheck to paycheck or worse, 63% have recently experienced a safety issue and 74% of participants identified as transgender, bisexual or queer. Allyship asked our community to identify solutions to increasing public safety and 64% stated increasing affordable housing as a key component to increasing LGBTQ public safety.
LGBTQ communities have a right to affordable housing!
In addition, Allyship will provide a training and tips on how to lobby your legislator on January 21st. Location is in the Central District, 321 16th Avenue S, (corner of S. Jackson and 16th).
