History

LGBTQ Allyship was founded in 2005 by LGBTQ leaders, activists and organizers from broaders social justice communities determined to broaden the concept of what is an LGBTQ issue and create intentional culture on solidarity work with other communities and movements. In 2011, Debbie Carlsen, initial founder and co-founder with 11 other steering members was hired as the executive director.

Allyship, with a framework around economic, gender and racial justice, works with other marginalized communities on affordable housing, youth homelessness and economic opportunity.
